How do you know if you have an STD?

You may become aware that you have an STD because of symptoms, or it may be that a sexual partner tells you they have an STD which they might have passed on to you. Some sexually transmitted diseases can be transmitted by an infected person even if they don’t know or are showing any symptoms.

It is important if you think you might have been exposed to an STD that you should arrange to have an STD test as soon as possible. Many sexually transmitted diseases can be easily cured, but if left untreated, they may cause unpleasant symptoms and could lead to long-term damage such as infertility. Arranging for an STD test in London or any of the other major cities in the UK, Manchester or Birmingham for instance, is easy and all tests are completely confidential and you may remain anonymous if preferred. Take action quickly if you have any suspicions that you may have become infected.
